The Author
Chris Simmons is an Australian-born adventure fisherman who has fished and surfed some amazing places, including West Timor, Papua New Guinea, South Sumatra, the Maldives, the Cook Islands and all over Australia, but his fondest memories are from his adventures on the shipwreck Sygna.
Chris tells a true story of fishing and staying overnight on a wrecked carrier ship, the MV Sygna, which ran around in 1974 off Stockton Beach near Newcastle, Australia. Along with his mates, some surfboards, fishing gear and a camera, Chris enjoyed the kind of fishing adventure most people can only dream of. Chris Simmons’ one-of-a-kind experience reaches through the pages to anyone who loves water sports, fishing, history, or the ocean.

Book Reviews!

This book was such a great read!, as a local of Newcastle, I have always known about the Sygna ship wreck but never heard of the fishing adventures had on it!.
In this modern world of safety and regulations I love how this story takes me back and reminds me of a simpler time when freedom and adventure was there for the undertaking.

A wonderfully poetic telling of an extraordinary story.
Great risk yields great reward as Chris Simmons takes on a boy's own adventure and survives to tell the tale.
It's worth the price for the photos alone and a must for all fisherman and history buffs.
